Process Control Department

The Process Control Department is a key service unit divided into two specialized teams: the Measurement Team and the Technical Team. What is a Confined Space?

A confined space is a closed or partially closed space that is not intended or designed primarily as a place of work and may have limited or restricted means for entry or exit; as well as atmospheres which contain potentially harmful levels of contaminants, low oxygen or flammable nature.  

Necessary Precautions for Safe Confined Space Entry:

o   Ensure the Permit to Work (PTW) is in order, with the method approved, risks assessed, and necessary control measures established before entry.

o   Entry is strictly prohibited without an approved Confined Space Entry permit, issued only to trained workers.

o   Test the atmosphere before entry for oxygen levels, flammable gases, vapours, or toxic contaminants.

o   Isolate energy sources at the confined space to prevent the entry of hazardous substances.

o   Provide suitable ventilation, lighting, and personal protective equipment (PPE) for the entrant.

o   Ensure at least one attendant is on standby outside the space, maintaining continuous communication with the worker inside.

o   When performing hot work, remove flammable materials and conduct continuous monitoring of oxygen levels, flammable gases, and toxic fumes.

o   Arrange rescue equipment and personnel as per established procedures.
